Accoding to the Mercury News, Marvell to cut 400 jobs.
It seems to me that Marvell's purchasing Intel's XScale business turns out poison.
It also provokes me to ask what next mobile SOC is.
The reason is that Intel might believe that there is another way to achieve mobile world #1 CPU vendor  as they did on PC world.

So, Question is what looks like as next mobile SOC.

First of all, I need to go over the what Nokia looks for.
There is several thing I want to point out.
  -  Symbian OS would support the ARM Symmetric Multi-processor in future OS versions.  Link here

  -   Markets requires more power mobile phone ever.
Look at the iPhone's big hit, If iPhone is running 300Mhz,
Even though Apple's developers are smart enough, they can not deliver rich
experiences and strong multimedia. specially web-brower  SaFari. Link here

  -  Nokia has N810, which is new Internet Tablet. Link here
      - Linux based OS
      - Official Mozilla based brower
      - Maps
Do you agree that Google's phone is yet another Nokia's future phone?
As you know, Internet Tablet is not Mobile phone. it is conceptually the same
as the Intel UMPC. However I believe that it will become one of popular platform for
      mobile   phone in future

  - Nokia acquired Navteq for $8.1 Billion   Link here
If Nokia has same idea as Google's My Location , I think Nokia has better position
    than google.

Second of all, what is current mobile SOC for smart phone?

  - The OMAP2420 chip is used across the board of the latest Nokia phones
you can check Device specifications    and in detail respectively.
  - HTC who is giant for Windows Mobile phone currently uses the QUALCOMM's
    MSM7xxx.
I think HTC’s product pipeline keeps QUALCOMM's SOC in near future.

  - Apple, Yes Apple is small player But strong influence.
iPhone uses Samsung's SOC based on ARM11, but it is bit confusing.
it's logo points out Apple, so I think it is acutally Apple's design and Samsung's
fab. anyways, it runs with 600Mhz compare to Nokia's 330Mhz.

So in 2010 smart phone, The requirement is 1Ghz SOC with ultra low power.
Do you think it is too far? No, Once Apple enable rich experiences and strong multimedia, No companys can stay their place anymore. even Microsoft.
